(...) No clutch. The gears don't spin very fast so you can't strip a gear. When you move the stick, it slides a cog on a cylinder. The cog locks into a spinning gear which is hollow. In fact, if you hook up two motors using the black cords and turn one of them, the increased voltage will cause the other one to turn without any physical effort applied to it. That's pretty rad. Scott, Well, it is not available in the United States in stores (One of my all time pet peeves of TLG). I am sure it is available in Europe, at stores. This came up somewhere else a day or two ago - 1033 is a pack of instructions (DACTA Activity Cards). These were sold separately from set 1032 (a 4.5 motor kit) because educators (whom these were produced for) could give each kid a different card, (...) Subject pretty much says it all - which set is the forest wench in? I picked up an odd lot recently which had about 40 mini-figs in it. You should be able to get away with just a single rotation sensor. When you power up the RCX, you will not know the position of the steering. Now turn it one way until the rotation stops. You are now at the end point, and know the position of the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I don't have the 8448 or the RCX for that matter but I may have a partial solution for you. I've found that steering is a perfect application for the Micro Motor (part # 5119). Well, since I bought a pretty expensive new vehicle recently, I had only one set I really wanted (Well, OK, I wanted them all, but then reality sets in again! :) ) the 4031 fire boat, the one with the helicopter on it, it is the only boat I did not (...) I have to reverse my comments regarding the micromotor for this car. This car is too heavy and the tires to wide for the power of the micromotor. I have just completed the steering using the type ll motor. You can take a look at (URL) would like to (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)
