I was actually a NELUGer first :)  Speaking of meetings, Dan and I will
be up the last week of august/first week of sept (I think from the 25th
to the 3rdish)... any plans for a meeting around then?  We'll be on the
cape, but we'll have a car, etc... i think officially we're busy on the
25th and 31st though (family stuff, etc)...

Given that we usually meet weekday nights (why *is* that anyway?)

Good question.  Because it has kind of become tradition I think.  Other than
Brikwars and Train Shows we don't tend to do much on weekends.  I would love to
do a build meeting someday where we just take the NELUG collection and go at
it.  Of course we need a good open location for that.  (Any volunteers or ideas
for a location?)

and
usually Mon-Thurs, I'd nominate the 26th, 30th, 1st, or 2nd for meetings.
How are those by people? I think I'm free for all of them... Or of course we
COULD break our norm and do a weekend meeting (heresy!)

No not that!!! ;-).  I also think I am available all of the days you have
mentioned.

and i've been told that you guys have just the BEST meetings ;)

Usually our meetings are a little above the scale of Brickfest. We get about
8-10 rooms in Brandeis university (being close to TCS), anywhere from 4-12
K8's, Lego sponsorship, prizes, and about 100-200 members in attendance.
Then we all head out to TCS who give us free Lego for being nice guys. Or
were those just the meetings in my head? Hmm... come to think of it, I don't
remember the Smurfs being NELUG members. So strike that. I guess we just get
the "big" room at a local restaurant, bring a few MOCs, and talk Lego for
several hours over food and drinks. Darn reality.

Ehh... reality ain't that bad.

As for the BEST meetings I guess that depends on who you talk with.  For us
they work out great.  First we spend a little dough on LEGO then head across
the street for MOC displays and Eats.  If you want to sit and play with LEGO
its probably not the best, besides BBQ sauce and LEGO don't go together very
well.

(...) given that it would be a 3 hour drive to get to the bridge to get off cape on the 1st or 2nd, i'd shoot for the 30th, myself. but i'll go with the flow :) (...) ah well, i'll just have to stick to the drinks then :) (23 years ago, 18-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)

(...) I'd love to too :) As for where to do it... hm... A Brandeis room costs moula, sadly... I could investigate rooms at WPI, though-- I still know a couple people out that way who work there, so I might be able to swing getting a room for free. (...) (...) I'd like to put my vote in for a weekend meeting. By the time I tear myself away from work during the week it's far too late for doing anything but watch reruns of Junkyard Wars and Iron Chef. Actually, considering the drive, I think I'd have (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)
