Darn, I was going to announce this on your behalf, but I was too slow..

Dave's FIRST PLACE: **Best Space Model,** for his AT-AT, as voted by
BrickFest attendees! I don't think I need tell you what the competition
was like in the Space room.. Even better, as this was announced, it was
brought to our attention that his model won "by a landslide!"  woo-hoo!

Dave's recognition was well deserved! I'm thankful for his taking time
and care to bring those models. He even drove them down to the event. I
have to tell you, when I saw his AT-AT standing on its own, without
supervision, where anyone could have bumped, broken, or stolen it, I was
truly impressed by the bravery exercised. It says something for
BrickFest too, that there was no bad incident.

Congrats, Dave!  It's a wholly heartfelt congratulations too, and I'm being a
very big boy about it :)

I hope more of us bring MOCs next year so we can really clean house. :-)

I've already made plans to go next year, and nothing short of calamity can sway
them.  I was planning on taking all my WWII stuff, some of my trains things,
and my AT-AT and AT-ST (both revamped).  I'll have to rethink these last though
... if Dave doesn't take his, I can't show mine in public alone anymore for
fear of backlash ;)

Congratulations again ... I'm sorry I missed it all!

(...) Next year you'll have to sport along your WWII stuff-- I'm not sure if you've seen the pictures but Lindsay built a minifig scale WWI battleship which took first place. We're all counting on you to outdo him next year ;) (...) Both revamped? (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)
