Larry & All,

Well, Larry, I am all for impressing the crowds, but this sounds like you
would rather see a bunch of sets from people who aren't part of the group,
whether they are Guilds of Bricksmiths or what, and I think that concept is
wrong. I think your viewpoint is slurred into that direction. If a member
has a building that he / she wants to include, whether or not it "sacrifices
coherency" or "sacrifices cleaniness of form", I think the members items
have priority. MichLUG came together to put up displays by their members,
not by other people's models from everywhere.
On that same note, if we have gaps to fill, then we can give more space to
those items. Novi's display in January was filed with stuff we did not
necessarily need in there. Grand Rapids is an entirely different story. If
we get more tables than we want for Novi next year, you are more than happy
to bring them.

What is "reason for being", Larry? Does everything need to go through a ten
point check before we consider it now? I am totally against this line of
thought. "Spacing way too widely" was simply because of the space we needed
to fill.

Go for it, in the space you have. Remember we made that space for you,a nd
cut out stuff.
> We do this for ourselves, true. But what floats *my* boat is wowing crowds.
Wowing crowds is great, but not at the expense of some members models, even
if they are "sacrificing bla bla bla (see above)".If I am wrong about what I
am reading here, fine, feel free to correct me.

No one is taking space away from you Larry, I think we added space for you
even though we eliminated space from other people's creations as it is.
However, I really don't think your goals are the same as the rest of ours,
which is to have fun and display OUR models, and please / wow the crowd. I
would not want to win because we have a bunch of stuff we bought or could
buy from other people. If we win, it is because of the layout. My goal is
really not winning and getting money and all of that, it is nice, but the
opportunity to display is what I am most interested in.
Maybe I am reading too much into this, but this whole discussion stems IMO
your drive on getting Guild of Bricksmith's models in the display, in which
I have no problem, I understand why you are doing that, but the rest of the
group is under no obligation to them, and to allocate space for those
models. I know you have some items you sell under that GOB Banner, and since
you would want some free advertising, that is one thing, but having other
GOB models made by people not in the group that don't even contribute in any
way seems unnecessary. If we need some items for the display, we will put
them in. If we get more room, fine, but if not, oh well. I am not willing to
sacrifice any members models for non members. It is as simple as that.
I am sure in Novi we will have more room, and you can display them then.
This show, we shall see.
