There are folks who feel a LEGO attraction is a detriment to a brick
con. I strongly feel that LEGO attractions (LEGOland for BricksWest and
the outlet for BrickFest) actually splinter the community. Instead of
all spending a weekend doing stuff together, we go charging off to the
attraction, and those who might not be interested in the attraction
either go along because there's nothing else to do, or stay back at the
event frustrated.

I don't expect BrickFest to ever move from the general DC area. It has
developed a strong identity in the area. BrickFest PDX is a different
event from BrickFest although it shares the brand. LEGOland didn't move
from Denmark just because there were better locations for it (Denmark
doesn't sound like the place one would site such a thing today, however,
I'm sure it will continue to be a viable attraction just because of it's
history).

BricksWest isn't leaving it's ORIGINAL home. BrickFest PDX is a
different con that is springing up to fill in a percieved gap.
