Agreed. I can't see it getting through the voting process, anyway.

Easy, boy. Non-TLG elements have their place in Ldraw. One of the uses of
Ldraw is to share models, but another important use is to keep a record of
your own models. For non-purists like Ron, this could certainly include
homemade parts. I've used non-Lego elements for enhancing POV renderings with
rotor blur, lasers, etc.
For posting such a model to lugnet.cad.dat you could just inline the
unofficial parts (at least until the .mpd format is supported by LDLite, at
which point you post in .mpd format and include the part files). A comment
explaining the homemade part(s) would be appreciated, though--I'd hate to get
all excited about building a cool model and then find out I had to hurt my
Lego to finish it.

Economic theory would suggest that competition improves quality and reduces
price. I actually think the current set designers at TLG could learn
something from MegaBloks. I noticed they had a model of a big racing boat
with a hull constructed out of 2Xn bricks. What a concept. Granted, lots of
MB stuff is poor, too (like the bricks themselves).
Ray, regarding your "universal connector," I've often wished for just such an
element, as well as its inverse. In fact, together they are at the top of my
wish list.

The rep tells me today's child market is different, and she sees the definite change (though convenienlty doesn't call it a 'decline') in the (...)
