(...) MLCad and LEdit both go strictly by the descriptive names for parts. LDraw Add-On's VEC looks for the 0 CATEGORY meta-statement for organizing parts. It runs under Win95/98/ME/2000 and it convertes logo-bitmaps of LEGO-bricks to LDAT-format - just as BMP2DAT or the tool in the LDAO suite should do ;).. Fell (...) Just wanted to know because I get a little sick of the mockup version when I povray it. It's very strange that nobody has made an official 30366(tie fighter canopy) because it is used in so many sets. Ps. with an official 30366 I only mean the part (...) A good set of keywords and more exposure of LDList (which is very useful for finding parts) would probably benefit the parts library, but it'd be such a pain to add all those keywords... As an example of how I can't find parts in our current system, I am asking about this part. It probably exists and I missed it. - It is a member of the 2-3 finger hinge system. - it has a 3 finger hinge at one end - this joins a rod system sized rod (...) My only concern is the possible impact changing the primitive could have on other files, where surfaces intersect spheres, but not at the edges of the (...) I started a discussion on the .dev group regarding sphere tesselation a little while back, and it came out that there is some dissatisfaction with the current sphere primitive. I just noticed that part 4773 (Light & Sound Colored Globe) seems to have a few problems. There are two gaps around the outside (the top one is extremely narrow). (...) Thanks! I learned a lot doing this one. I'd definitely recommend modifying an existing part as a way to begin. I didn't even need to add anything except studs, which I copied. Here's 30473, a variant of 6024, found in <set:4291>. I modified 6024 to remove the island, re-stud the road, and remove studs at raised corners. I like it. But there is a small problem with this file and the unpatterned bird. There are 2 lines that have a space between one number and the next (search for 3- to find them). This causes ldlite to give a syntax error and it causes ledit to give (...) (24 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

This primitive is one octant of that sphere with three faces "planed/smoothed off" so that the resulting object will fit inside a cube (...) It is not part of a sphere. It can be thought of as a virtual cube which has had one corner sliced away in a curved fashion. Or to put it another way, it is the grey area in this image: "(URL) radii are "1", and its angles are 90 degrees (i.e., 1/4 (...) (24 years ago, 15-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
