Following an initiative by Axel Poqué, I've resubmitted an improved version
of the original 1-8sphe.dat primitive for the next update. This version
still has 9 quads and 4 triangles, but coplanarity and meeting the surface
of the sphere falls whithin acceptable limits (dist less than 0.01, as
agreed with Lars C. Hassing), because I've recalculated all coordinates up
to 4 decimal places. So reasons 2 and 3 are eliminated by this fix.

| I started a discussion on the .dev group regarding sphere tesselation a little while back, and it came out that there is some dissatisfaction with the current sphere primitive. I have finished the code which generates a replacement sphere primitive, (...) (24 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
