Here's what it looks like shaded in Rhino, in case you couldn't visualize the surface in the other pics. (2 URLs) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

OK, this took a couple of hours of work (remember I'm learning as I go along). It's still a little crude, and there are a few holes in the overhangs, but it's a start! (URL) you guys still use Brickshelf? I hope I remembered how to do that (...) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

WOW!! I am surprised the scanned results are usable /AT ALL/!!!! I'm generally completely skeptical about technology's ability to perform such tasks. I.e. almost 100% of the time a human operator is what is needed to achieve usable results. (...) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  LDView browser plugin?

Are there any plans on creating an LDView-based browser plugin? It would be nice if a plugin were added to the Firefox or Chrome plugin libraries, as well as automatically loaded and found when encountering LDraw files. -Mike (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Rotating model animation help needed

I would like too create animations of several of my models rotating around their vertical axes and upload them to YouTube. 1. What movie codec/format should I use? 2. The number of frames should be divisible by 4 so that I get a nice view of the (...) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Unfortunately, I can only scan what I have in front of me, and I don't own any of those parts. Let me see what I can do with the minifig heads and then I'll post that as proof-of-concept. Then if you're interested maybe we can work something (...) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) OK, I just picked up this magnet set: (URL) think it has the hair you wanted in it.. Is that the helmet you want too? I'll let you know how it goes. Again, I won't have time to do the scaling/trimming/LDU conversion/DAT conversion - I will (...) (13 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDConfig.ldr + L3P 1.4 + POV-Ray 3.6.2 + fastrad.inc no longer producing nice results

(...) I think that many of the POV-Ray colors were tuned by the All-In-One Installer from LDraw.org. These are tuned for rendering. The LDconfig.ldr is not tuned for rendering. It is meant for creating building instructions. For this reason, I have (...) (13 years ago, 18-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Patterns: Outline or no outline?

(...) My process goes like this: 1) Find a relatively high-quality photo of the part and reorient it so it has the right proportions and faces me head-on. (I also keep the part itself handy for details the photo missed.) 2) Use Inkscape to trace (...) (13 years ago, 18-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
