Steve, I have also used Mindstorms to run a train, like this. But I used it in a railroad yard, not for a trolley. But it’s basically the same concept. I put the touch sensor at a 90 degree angel with the track and about one brick away from track at (...) (27 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains)

*Real* lasers don't even look impressive. It is pracitaclly impossible to get a laser in the visable wavelengths to cut stuff. Usually UV lasers are used for this purpose. Those peices did/do exist with Tyco bricks. I seem to remember a couple of 2x2 "plates." There was the double female one that was 1/2 brick thick, and the double male that was about the thinkness of a baseplate. The real cool piece was double male (...) (27 years ago, 17-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

I too am fully java enabled, have had no technical problems with the site, and I usually connect at 49999K. I like the site, but you make a very good point.
