Re: The difference between hobbyists and collectors...

(...) Except that AFOL's are a tiny percentage of their consumers and of those, "collectors" are merely a small percentage. Therefore if they really wanted to keep 99% of their consumers happy they would try to limit the actions of collectors - such (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: French America - was something about trains... Re: My first train7 project

(...) That was southern Ohio. In Michigan on Thanksgiving, the turkeys are frozen by the time they hit the tarmac. It's more like bowling balls being thrown from helicopters (but the still make nice potholes). (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: The difference between hobbyists and collectors...

(...) Well, keeping your consumers somewhat happy, and promoting your public image, can sometimes be a very good way to run a business. As to the collector end of things (i.e., hoarding a commodity to control the market, then making a profit off (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: The difference between hobbyists and collectors...

(...) I thought it was nonsense when LEGO had to offer to buy back some of the Maersk container ships when they were able to produce a second run of them. "Collectibles" are a gamble and the "dealers" lost. So sad, thanks for playing. Catering to (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: GERMAN AFOLS ROCK!!!

(...) Looks like (URL) Andreas Opperman>. And in response to John's first statement I have to agree. Going to 1000steine land last year was amazing and it looks like Frechen may be even better. I'm really regretting deciding not to go now :( Tim (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) I have a few in red if you want 'em (...) And that's what separates the fan from the fanatic. A LEGO piece produced cira 1972 is technically different from one produced in 2007. Yet, for the hobbyist, they do exactly the same job and in (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) It's funny. My mother-in-law has a Galaxy Explorer that belonged to my wife. She lets my sons play with the pieces, when they visit. She even has the box & instructions. I'd love to buy it from her, just to have it, but she won't give it up. I (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Exoforce meets Steampunk...Into SteamForce!!

I appreciate you sharing this. It takes a favorite set and gives it that fun, chunky steampunk look. Personally, the robots should have 2x2 domes for bodies. (19 years ago, 8-Jan-07, to lugnet.adventurers)
