All,
Keith makes several valid points, and I would like to expound upon them.  I
have been passively monitoring LUGNET for several years.  I just finished
reading this entire thread. I must congratulate all of the participants for
finally penetrating my indifference and moving me to make this, my first posting
on LUGNET.

When did someone say "I wonder what Jason Mantor has to say about this".

Probably about the same time that someone said "I wonder what Kevin Blocksidge
or Keith Goldman has to say about this."

Keith is obviously an angry young man (a by product of his courious
relationship with his mother) but his response is on target.  You see Kevin
(Mind if I call you Kevin? Oh you do?  To bad) This email thread is posted in a
public forum.  Public forum is a big idea.  So big in fact that it takes two
words to name it!  Let’s break the idea into its components (peaces) and look at
those first.  Maybe then the bigger picture will emerge.  Ok Kevin?
Webster tells us that if something is public, then it is of, affecting, or
concerning the community.  It can also be anything that is maintained our used
by the community.  Ok, let’s take a break, and tie the first part of this idea
into our discussion. Mr. Mantor is a member of the community (the LUGNET
community Kevin! Stay focused.). Remember back when you said:” How are you
involved with this at all?  For that matter, how am I involved with it?" Well
Kevin, your secret power word is COMMUNITY. See his involvement Kevin?  It's
just the same as your involvement and my involvement!  We are all members of the
LUGNET community.  We have more in common then you knew!  Hey, I'm having fun
Kevin!  Are you ready to move on to the next concept?  Let’s do it!
Webster says  that a forum is a public meeting place for open
discussion(Webster doesn't really say it Kevin, because he's dead, but he wrote
a big red book all about words before he died).  Still with me Kevin?  It's time
to tie this one in.  Your secret power words are PUBLIC, OPEN, and DISCUSSION.
Stay with me now.
LUGNET is a place for exchanging ideas and information, a place to discuss or
talk, sort of a...a...yes!  A forum!
Kevin you’re growing and learning right before my minds eye. I know it's
scary, but be cool. I'm right there with you buddy.  Now stay Zen because I'm
gonna try to rattle your cage.  This is one of my favorite moments! It's "Crazy
Aristotelian Time!
Aristotle was a very clever guy with a long white beard Kevin, but if his name
bothers you, then you will be glad to hear that he is dead too (That's right
Kevin, just like Webster!). Now there is a little structure here, but nothing
two big strong community members like Kevin and Mike can't Handel.  It's a sort
of chain of interconnected ideas that form a larger concept when looked at as a
whole.  Read the lines below, and let me know if there is any part you don’t
agree with.
1. LUGNET is a public forum.
2. Mr. Mantor is part of the public.
  Ergo...
3. LUGNET is a forum for Mr. Mantor.
Snap!  Aristotle is one of my favorite dead guys!  He can compress so much
thought into such a small package! I figured you would like that Kevin, because
you seem like a small package sort of guy.

.  While that might have been a hasty decision, I don't think it
warranted your poorly constructed smack.
Warranted is a good word right here.  So is smack.  Smack Quality Control (SQC)
is key!
I suppose it's because of me being LEGO Pope and all.

You do remind me of a rattled old man in a bullet-proof golf cart.  Are you a
member of SciBrick?
Lego Pope?  Is that a name you made for yourself?  Do you perform mass
before thousands, issue pardons, launch crusades and inquisitions and all that
papal jazz?  Or are you just polish and really really old?  Help me grow and
learn Kevin.  I'm a Lego soul adrift!

Anyway, Chris's post wasn't even the most juvenile post in this thread.  It
doesn't even make sense to target Chris's post for your nonsensical rant.

Nonesensical rant?  It made just as much sense as your post (the most juvenile),
dredging up your past hostilities with Sophie, and using his pics to do it.
What, nobody can criticize Chris? (I refuse to call him Admiral Killjoy because
that nickname has already been given to Scott Lyttle (Captain Killjoy).
This is sort of like that dialogue in Reservoir Dogs: "How come I gotta be Mr.
Pink?"  Keith, help a brother out.  What’s your cool Lego nick name?

Also, what is an elitist click member?
The notion of .space elitism is thrown about surprisingly often,
and I seem to remember that even I once believed in it.  I can say now that it is not true.

Of course you say its not true, you are obviously one of "Them" now (and I don't
mean giant ants), an Evil Cabalist!  Talk about nonsensical.  As to the
accusations of elitism, I can say from my brief experience with the group that
they spent more time deciding how to keep people out, and who should be
president, than getting anything done.

  >Keith makes a number of good points here.  First, it is crucial at this
juncture to re-affirm that nobody in this thread is a giant ant.  It would not
detract from the value of their opinion if they were, but it is always importANT
to know who is and who is not a giant ant (Shoot the antennae, he’s helpless
without them!).
Second, he is correct in his rebuttal of your argument against the possibility
of elitism.  Denial (and I don’t mean a river in Egypt) could merely one of the
symptoms!  If you HAD been assimilated would you admit it?  The only reason CPT
Pecard had to admit it was because he had machine parts sticking out of his
face!  This does not prove that you ARE an elitist SciBrick Borg, but only that
you MIGHT BE…I notice you don’t use a web cam.  Hmmm.
The third point is the real core of the whole thread.  SciBrick seems more concerned with control and authority issues than with their actual mission.   Examine the self important rhetoric of the organizations “Communications Officer”.  I know his job title because he incorporated it into every other line of his postings.  His emphasis is on two main points: The legitimacy of his authority, and why Mr. Sophi should retract his statement.  The SciBrick Communications Officer discusses the source of his authority in great detail.  He is more interested in validating his own authority and altering the messages of others than he is in issue at hand.
He might consider changing his job title to Communications Commissar.
Especially the way he likes to throw around words like “Empower” and
“Authorize”.  SciBrick might be better served by a communicator who is more like
Lt Ohura (whose name means freedom!) and less like Herr. Gobles.
I know very little of SciBrick.  I am unable to catalogue what is no doubt a
long list of lasting and meaningful contributions to the greater Lego community.
But my current impression of the agency has been formed largely by their duly
elected and empowered Communications Officer.  If he is any indicator of the
nature of the agency as a whole, then the outlook is grim for the long term
viability of the organization. I would send this message directly to the
SciBrick Communications Commissar, but I might inadvertently violate the
communication protocols of that agency, and be told to re-cant (perhaps by the
lego pope).
Remember SciBrick: Gobles is bad; Ohura is good (Gobles is dead Kevin, but
Ohura is still alive).

Mike Rutherford

P.S. Keiths mom is a fine and regal lady, and just in case you didn't know, she
actually builds most of his projects.

PPS. Mr. Mantor, I hope you do not take offence to my use of your name in my
text.  I only did so for the purpose of illustrating my point. Thanks.
