Yes you're right - I just downloaded the latest jpg of the layout.  I will
start building on Monday!  (This is gonna be fun...)

Shouldn't be. The 2 baseplates is all the *building*, so you don't need
to leave any space round it (although obviously an interesting building
isn't going to be just a plain rectangle, tehre will be ins and outs to
its perimeter). The monorail stn could be inside the building itself, on
the upper floor (or even the 3rd floor considering it's supposed to be
12 bricks off the ground). The building itself should be a good deal
bigger than a std Lego set airport - otherwise it won't look right
agaist the MOCs elsewhere on the layout.

Oh yeah... the monorail track will be 12 bricks off the ground?  What about
the train track in the mountain area?  How much space will I need to leave
(heightwise)?  I need to know this...

(...) By the time it gets to your mountain, the monorail track has jumped up another level and is at 22 bricks above ground level. You can just barely see on the .jpg or .gif file (I recommend printing the latest version out as big as you can get it (...) (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
