I think baseplate chunks doled out to each person is the best
compromise. Fill your chunk with appropriate buildings and we'll slot it
in.
OK, who wants which building chunks? Here's a key plan with numbers so
we can all tell which bit we're talking about (these don't exactly match
with the BP's on the plan, it's just to give us a location key):

Using Dean's latest brainstorm (#16), and listing from the top left corner, and not including baseplates which are
mostly covered in track or roads, here are what look like teh available chunks to me (feel free to suggest different
uses for a chunk, but don't lets change the track or roads any more...):
Lower half of 4,5 and 6 Kevin's outdoor market plus ??
Most of 8+9 (beach) ??? cafe? surf shack? coastguard???
29,49 (curved cliff), all Track on cliff, monorail above, double level bridge (Kevin)
back half of water and
track on cliff 50-53
10-12,30-32 Water with island in the middle
14-18 Container yard with crane (Dean), Dock at water end
19-20,39-40 Industrial (could be a big warehouse built OVER the tracks,
with a clear back wall on the layout outside
so our viewers can see inside it).
22,42 Dean's something with cross tracks on it (previously fire station)
43 9v station connecting over tracks to monorail
45,46,47 City centre buildings - shops etc? (27 could be a parking lot)
56,57 (tops) Monorail station, elevated platform & escalator to ground.
57,71,85 Dean's train factory
73+87 Commercial: Dean's office building + more
76+90 Airport terminal and monorail station (connects over tracks to 9v
station)
99-100 Joint 9v/monorail station
82+96 Houses backing onto mountain
69,83,97 Mountain with monorail on ledge. (Bryan?)
70,84,98 ???
91 Oil tanks (fuel for aircraft). Needs road access (Dean)
92 Airport hotel (tall and modern)
93 park under monorail? (Kevin?)
94 Houses (Victorians? tall for back of layout).

(HEHE, SAID NO MORE ROAD OR TRACK CHANGES [oops caps lock] didn't I, never mind) wth Robin's suggestion of the road disappearing into a tunnel in the mountain side under the monorail. | In the interest of keeping all this building organized, and in my hopes of completely covering the entire layout with baseplates instead of resorting to cloth covering, I've tried to organize a building layout file in similar fashion to our train (...) (24 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

| I've grabbed some of the water baseplate spaces, including the island in the middle (#32). I'm going to build a lighthouse, with revolving light (micromotor), attached keeper's house, small dock, perhaps a seagull or two. I'll also build a boat with (...) | One (minor) change I'd suggest we make to the layout. The mountain will be along plates 69, 83, and 97. Some of it can even extend to 96, I would hope. My thought was to use the rest of 96, and perhaps some of 68 as an "outdoor" area, with trees, a (...) (24 years ago, 31-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
