I think my final scan scheme will be something like take 32 readings, sort into high 16 and low 16 and get an average for each group and compare the difference in the high/low average... maybe discard the top and (...) (21 years ago, 28-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)
