I concur with this completely. I think my final scan scheme will be something
like take 32 readings, sort into high 16 and low 16 and get an average for each
group and compare the difference in the high/low average... maybe discard the
top and bottom two as well. Something to eliminate as many anomolies as
possible.
I found that because Im not using a rotation sensor on my horizontal axis, I
have trouble getting the sensor pointed exactly at the cel and sometimes I end
up with artificially bright numbers because Im picking up a bit of the frame.
If I had some Lego lights I think Id just put the sensor in passive mode and
stick my own light sources on there... :) Of course, I dont have a free motor
port and it would be poor form to run them off a battery box.
