All this talk about right-wing fringe groups, what about the far more • radical

Environmentalists have carried out numerous acts of violence against HUMAN
BEINGS for the sake of TREES!

Just being a homosexual or an environmentalist makes you a left wing
fringe group??? Surely you didn't mean that. I'm an environmentalist, I
recycle, I give scads of cash to the Nature Conservancy, and I try to
buy green whenever it makes economic sense to do so. Please don't pigeon
hole me.

No more than you meant that anyone religious is a right wing extremist. The
problem in this matter is that only the outrageous get the attention and taint
the entire issue.

My issue with Alan Keyes is that he
ultimately thinks that certain behaviours are sinful and therefore need
to be legislated against. Morality of that sort (where what we are
talking about is consensual behaviour) is not the perogative of the
state to legislate.

Morality tanscends the state. It's not just a consensus of the majority. Like
it or not this country was founded on judeo-christian values and our rights
only exist because the founders recognized them as God given. Homosexuality is
wrong. Having said that, you should know that I have many friends who are
homosexual and I don't treat them with the slightest disrespect or
differentiation in any way than I treat anyone else. I believe people are of
primary concern and deserving of respect because they are created in God's
image. Behavior is changeable. Many people have gotten out of the homosexual
lifestyle. It has been proven that it is not genetic when they studied
identical twins. Not everything that is consensual is right. Two people often
agree to do things that are not right. No one exists in a vaccuum. Everything
we do affects someone in some way. Our freedom only exists in morality. We only
have rights as we are able to respect those of others. I am free to have
property which means I am free from you stealing it from me. If morality breaks
down we lose our freedom. Immorality leads to anarchy and/or tyranny. When we
remove the stigma of right and wrong it is a slow descent to chaos. History has
proven it over and over. And again, we do not have the luxury of choosing our
own standard of right and wrong, it must come from beyond ourselves. That's why
the founders structured our government to protect against the tyranny of the
majority. The majority is not always right, history has also proven that.
Tolerance does not mean to look the other way, permit everything and judge
nothing.

Bill
