Hi Mike, I've wanted the sub-model selection stuff you talked about for a while also (whether you use MPD or not.) I think it would be very handy. An interesting philosophical question about instruction approaches... Does anyone have any thoughts on or examples of instructions that are organized in a hierarchy as opposed to linearly? I totally agree with all these comments. This especially rears it's head when doing passenger coaches where I've use the same sub model 36 times in s set of 4 coaches! Which brings up an interesting philosophical question about instruction (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.inst)

I've run into this problem before using Pov-Ray. What you need to do is find the line that calls the complete model (will be just before the camera statement) and remove the #if statement. I really like your tool, it will save me a lot of time and struggling and allow mw to add to my models I do, hower have a a comment on the installer you use, it sucks.. instead of placing the parts in the correct parts directories it placed them in (...) Hi Dave, Right now the installer is too simple. It needs to know where the LDraw directory is, so it can add some parts to your parts directory. It does a simple search for this: LDRAW\MKLIST.EXE on your hard disks. It cannot find it. I'd guess one (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.inst)

Bill, My initial thought is.... what are the chances that someone will find a commercial use for this program? But in thinking about it more, I have no idea how far other contributing authors will take this program, so out of respect for their (...) While it is a great idea to supress the multiple rendering of the same steps, I'm not sure there is really any added value to displaying the "x4" on the last step. Tim and Michael, I'd love to see this feature as well, although it is easy to say from the outside. We have no idea how MLCAD is orgranized, so this may be pretty hard to do, especially getting nice preview images of synthesized parts. Kevin (...) Hi Ahui, You do not need to use an editor to add these coments. Lsynth compensates for MLCAD's WRITE statements, by ignoring the WRITE keywoard. Two things to examine: 1. Has anyone besides Kevin been able to get LSynth to work? I can get it to run the examples.mpd file but when ever I get my own file it does nothing? (...) A simple fix to reduce the file size some what is to limit the amount of digits in the synthisized part. For example, I noticed that lsynth writes 10.000000 instead of just 10. Jennifer, You are using and old verion of LSynth where the length is provided. Version 2.0 has it removed, because it was not used. Orion, I agree completely on wanting a length control. Hi Jaco, I started out on the wrong approach to synthesized hoses and rubber bands, where I used LDraw parts to create the bands and tubes. OK! I downloaded it again and it works! It is a great program. I especially like the option to create chains. What I do not understand though is why the fiber optic cable in the example has to be almost 2 Mb? All files are rather large. Like the (...) Some comment about L-Synth: -I Really like the rubber bands\treads\chain feature. This is insanely useful. -I'm not so wild about the flex axle/ribbed hose implementation. If you have more than one MKLIST.EXE file on your machine you will get an error with the installer. I get the following error. Hi Don, The setup was supposed to give you choices on where you wanted it to install, what program group you wanted start menus under, and confirm that you wanted to install. LSynth needs some special LDraw parts, so after it copies the parts into (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.inst)

LPub uses: -cg0,0 -ca30 by default. LPub controls view angle by rotating all the parts to match rotation step specification and view coordinates. It seems like this qualifies as auto-centerable, but it does not always work. Kevin (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Hi Jake, (...) I'm merely setting the camera angle to 1 which eliminates perspective. I do not set orthographic. I modified LPub so the lowest camera angle is 1, and fixed the label that indicates the actual camera angle so it is updated as the (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

So to clarify, rather than use the ortho setting, you are choosing the camera angle setting and using a 1? Is that it, or are you doing additional stuff? I ran into the want for orthographic camera, with my pneumatic adding machine MOC, and made some discoveries. You can simulate orthographic images with a camera angle of 1. I tried using 0, but L3P silently ignores this and assumes you want the (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

This means you can apply the standard cheat to solve the problem with cutoff cylinders on concave edges. Push all the edge cylinders toward the (...) Excellent suggestion!! I've been wrestling with MegaPOV lately, having frustration with different size submodels and the find_edges settings. I want to keep the line thickness relative to the _parts_ and not to the render resolution, but since the (...) (22 years ago, 22-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.inst)

I just got another email discussing the use of orthographic camera and building instructions. The two do not work well together, and won't for the forseeable future.
