My littlest niece got the 200-piece play table for Christmas (I wonder who?)
and we tried to follow some of the instructions inside the idea book.
They are really hard for a 7-year old. The chief difficulty is when what
should be a 6 step build is shown in 4 steps. Typically the omitted step is
the attachment of a 2x4 plate to the bricks laid down in step 1. Then step 2
builds bricks on top of this plate. I had to point this out to my niece
after she hunted for the bricks and tried to put them on a while.
Another difficult part is the way the instructions point of view shows slope
bricks. Many times there is only the barest hint that a slope is not a 1x2
brick.
All in all she learned a few things about building and especially liked
having her uncle play. (Hey, it's not Barbies this time.)

P.S. She turned 8 this week.
