Since Wal*Mart was mentioned, I feel it important to mention that, increasingly,
the larger mass retailers in the US actually dictate and demand specific price
points on products they put on their store shelves. For example, if W*M wants
LEGO products with SRP of US $50 and below ONLY, that is what needs to be
delivered, else W*M will buy NOTHING. Also, W*M uses the practices of only
paying the amount THEY choose for their products AND does not even pay (most) of
their vendors until such time as their product has sold in the W*M stores!! W*M
and other mass retailers exert HUGE pressure on all suppliers who must either
comply or risk W*M not marketing their products at all.
