I e-mailed LEGO the same question, and received this response:
The bucket you asked about is a ToysRUs(R) exclusive. We do have other tubs and
buckets of bricks available at all retail stores that carry our products. Item
numbers 4028 and 4105 are buckets of 500 bricks; and item numbers 4496 and 4497
are tubs of 1,000 bricks.
