This tub is now available through Amazon.com:

Even though the description is simply "Lego Creator Tub with 500-pc. Elements
Box," it has the 500979 SKN number that Toys R Us uses.
Upside: Now available to anyone Amazon will ship it to.
Possible downsides: Can't tell ahead of time whether you will get one(s) stamped
2714, 2814, or 3534. And unlike Toys R Us, does Amazon know that 4679 and 5352
(the Duplo tub) aren't the same thing? They don't (yet) have a separate entry
for the Duplo tub.

| OK, someone brought this to my attention from a Bricklink post. But there is a new 4679 Creator set tub with 1000 pieces (for $19.99), with an extra 500 pieces that looks like they're emptying the rare colors bins at TLG. I just checked the hollow (...) (20 years ago, 21-Sep-04, to lugnet.general)
