The answer to this has been a great source of frustration for me in trying to
get the tub. Apparantly, the green Duplo tub with a box of 40 bonus pieces
(set 5352) that people have seen at some Toys R Us shares the same system
entry in the TRU database with tub 4679. The managers I talked to said that
the two tubs are probably considered an “assortment.” They both have a Toys R
Us SKN of 500979 and a description of “LEGO Value Creator Tub.”
The reason that this is so frustrating for me is that all six Toys R Us
stores anywhere reasonably near me have lots of the green Duplo tub in stock,
and that’s apparantly all they ever received. And since their computers show
SKN 500979 as being fully stocked, it has scheduled no more shipments of the
item for the foreseeable future. Even when it does decide to send more, who’s
to say that the order won’t be filled again with nothing but green tubs?
After all, it’s the same thing to them.
I asked the local stores if they could special order an item from their
warehouse, but they say it can’t be done. A call to TRU Customer Service
didn’t yield any way of getting red tubs either.

Glad to see you and WELCOME! Thanks for the search tidbits and warehouse info.
That does present a dilemma if green tubs need to be moved before any red ones
can arrive. Hmmm.
Well, I’ll let you know what happens next for me, but I thought I’d share this
info for the time being found on FBTB.net:

I’m told that there are about 14,000 of the tubs in their warehouse (which
would mean green and red), but with about 680 TRUs in the U.S. that’s only 20
tubs per location. I hope that they don’t run out before I find a way to get
a few here.

Here’s to hoping that these tubs make it to the stores before the 2nd of the
October!!! :-D
