I talked with the convention co-ordinator for Archon when I attended
Egyptian Campaign this weekend and found out some interesting information.
Listing the pirate game as a Lego gaming event  at Gencon would put the
burden of providing judge passes on Lego Corp because Gencon LLC would
assume the corporation is sponsering the event and would expect to be
compensated as such. He also suggested we ask Gencon mgt. to try place the
Lego based games in one area. The games may be different like BrikWars and
the Pirate Game but we would all be in the same general vicinity.

Hmm, I guess we need to sell it as a "brick gaming track." Which we
would probably have to do for trademark reasons anyway. I doubt TLC will
"sponsor" the event, though we might be able to get some prizes out of
them.

When I first approached the event coordinator, I wrote something like "we have
run a number of LEGO-related events in the past...." and she took that to mean
that I was a LEGO rep and responded with more detail to me than she should
have.  I won't go into most of it here, but in general terms, she had 'contact
LEGO' on her to-do list to see if they could put something official together.
If that were to happen, perhaps we could ride along to some extent.  If any of
y'all have decent personal contact with LEGO people, you might explain the
situation and see what comes of it.

I'm becoming sufficiently confident of my ability to make it to GenCon
that I'd be happy to commit to running Evil Stevie's Pirate Game. One

Great!  I'm really looking forward to a full schedule of LEGO gaming.  But we
do now have to get con buy-in and figure out how we're going to be registering
and stuff.

I wonder at what point we should post an announcement to announce and events
groups and see how many more we can draw out of the woodwork.  Isn't there an
IndyLUG or something?

question I would have though is what the feeling would be about having
both Pirate Wars and the Pirate Game? Would that be confusing to people?
With both, I think it would definitely make sense to do the campaign
game for the Pirate Game.

It certainly makes sense to not run them against each other.  But I'm not
opposed to having both played.  It might be fun to compare them that way...and
even bill them with that ability in mind.  We need to remember that we are more
valuable to the con if we can bring more registrants.
