lets see then, minifig versions of the big KK figures will mean the

new shaped visors, existing weapons in new colours, tan classic sword,
orange broad sword, and new sword designs
new shaped shields, new horse barding prints
new helms
oh and brown burps, which are nice.
pity the set designs follow in the knights kingdom tradition of being a bit
weak

My first impression on the castle sets is that the minifigs look cute in
their new armor...so the heros are designed properly. The villians have a
little to be desired.
Another initial thought was, Why rehash Knights Kingdom? Maybe they didnt
think they had enough of a story line when they brought it out the first
time.
8781 Leos Castle, version II? - looks like a nice slight improvement on
the original. The front looks better, but the rest of it still looks
horrific.
8780 Wizards Tower? - as in the fright nights, has A LOT to be desired
as far as structure design goes. Playability is high, why not make the
building look good at the same time... OI!!
8779 Knights Joist, version II? - generally looks fine, except for the
wheeled horses.... just use regular horses!!!!!!!!!! insert SCREAM here
The decorations look fine, but slightly detract from the rest of the set.
8778 Gorags Crossing??? - looks like a rehash/expansion of the Oriental
Expedition Tigurs Roar set http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7411. Elements within
the set, are quite good, IMO, for those who buy sets for piece selection. I
also absolutely love the new Executioner minifig!!!
8777 Final Slaughter??? - looks like the cheapest set in the line, and
has a nice cool barding for a horse with that scorpion. The catapult is
a bit generic, but the set in general doesnt look too pricey.
My final objective view of these sets are that they are Wonderful for
kids (8-12), my guess their target audience, but for the rest of us,
fall far short of (at least my) expections.
Also, you look at these sets, and their horrific larger cousins
(KK constractibles), you look at all those new parts...new molds...
It makes you want to tear your hair out.... one part of the company says
we cant put out certain desirable elements ... monorail, cypress trees,
track pieces, old design Castle helms (yellow castle), and I could go on
and on, while the other part of the company seems to take pride in coming
out with many, many new mold designs.

| (...) I'm fairly certain that the purpose of those two structures on the sides is to launch the horse-cart-thingeys at one another... for which regular horses clearly would not work. For a kid it probably will have great play value. Peter (21 years ago, 17-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)
