Another initial thought was, “Why rehash “Knights Kingdom”? Maybe they didn’t think they had enough of a story line when they brought it out the first time.

In other words, it wasn’t good in the first time, why are TLC waste their time with it again instead of trying something new

8781 “Leo’s Castle, version II?” - looks like a nice slight improvement on the original. The front looks better, but the rest of it still looks horrific.

I’m not very much fond of the original “Leo’s Castle”, but alot of non-LEGO people told me they think it’s pretty. So aside the useless bricks in that set, if we compare the outlook of both of the castle’s IMO “Leo’s Castle” the original is better.

Which brings me back to: Why lions again????

We had the lionhearts, classic lions, the royal lions and the knight’s kingdom lions. Doesn’t TLC knows that there are other animals?

8780 “Wizards Tower?” - as in the fright nights, has A LOT to be desired as far as structure design goes. Playability is high, why not make the building look good at the same time... OI!!

Exectly my thoughts, alot of potential, looks awful

8779 “Knights Joist, version II?” - generally looks fine, except for the “wheeled horses”.... just use regular horses!!!!!!!!!!” insert SCREAM here The decorations look fine, but slightly detract from the rest of the set.

Again why making again something that wasn’t that good in the first time? Comparing between 6060 (from 1989), 6095 (from 1999), 8779 (from 2004) we can all see how the same original great idea becomes worse and worse. As you said, horses are much much better and a nice booth for the king and his royal family, and extra cheering knights would have been much better. The shields there are a good idea and also it’s about time that TLC will create various colors of horse head covers, but again more knights.

8778 “Gorag’s Crossing???” - looks like a rehash/expansion of the Oriental Expedition Tigur’s Roar set http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7411. Elements within the set, are quite good, IMO, for those who buy sets for piece selection. I also absolutely love the new “Executioner” minifig!!!

Really not abad set. The “Executioner” minifig is also available on the castle.

8777 “Final Slaughter???” - looks like the cheapest set in the line, and has a nice cool barding for a horse with that scorpion. The catapult is a bit generic, but the set in general doesn’t look too pricey.

Yeah well a useless catapult which we’ve seen 10,000 times before. However cause it’s probably the cheapest set, we all buy several of it just for the barding.

My final objective view of these sets are that they are Wonderful for kids (8-12), my guess their target audience, but for the rest of us, fall far short of (at least my) expections.

Playable for kids - well maybe, it still doesn’t change the fact that all of them looks horrible. I’m probably gonna buy one of each at least (for spare parts:-) and the minifigs), but it not likely that I’ll build anyone of them as is
