I can't seem to locate eithe rright now, but note that either the box or
the instructions for the Emperor's Stronghold (Ninja set) showed a firing
cannon, even in the US release. (I think it was the instructions.)
The US catalog picture (at Pause) pretty clearly shows the 'holy' cylinder,
so my guess is that they just didn't want to rephotograph, layout, and print
the boxes.
Maybe we should ask Gary Istok when LEGO changed from 'unholy' to 'holy'
1x1s...if it's between 1979 (release of 677) and 1981 (release of 6077) then
I think we have our answer.
