After building massive Castles, I always feel the need to have a full battle.
My problem is that I only have 30 men with which to wage war. I am seeking a
cost effective way to acquire 100 plus men. I like the new castle men, as well
as the older ones. The ninjas abhor me.

Because you like the new castle, you are in luck - without the a "figures" pack,
it still rocks for getting soldiers.  Here is why:

4811 - the Defense Archer (whenever he comes out) - you get one full minifig
with a shield for around $1.99 (which is a pretty good price) - you can probably
sell off the remaining pieces.

6026 - King Leo - Sell off the wall piece and the horse and you have two figures
for about $2.00 a pop (again - not too shaby).  The crown kind of limits the
kings, but if and when you get some helmets (shouldn't be too hard if you are
willing to stick around), the torso and legs will provide an awesome soldier.

From those two sets, I can see myself amassing a rather big army.  I think that
an army costs on average $2.00 per figure (include in this mounted Knights,
etc).  Minifig pack bring it down, while e-bay pack bring this up.

I have looked on ebay and they sell lots of 10 for up to $35. That is more
than I care to pay. I don't think it is right to have to pay over three
dollars for one small soldier. Will Lego sell a set of people with the new
castle series? I have heard many hope, but has any insider confirmed it.

They always do, so now it's a matter of how soon.  Probably after the next line
up comes out.  So the question is ... assuming nothing changes - what will be
incuded in that pack?  My guess is King Leo on the horse, an archer (normal),
and two Bull Knights.  No princess or queen - I think we can agree on that (I'm
secretly hoping I will eat my words here ... )

(3)Does anybody have a picture of a large army, 100 or more men in formation,
that I can look at? I have not seen a close up like that on any web pages.

I will set my guys up and post them later on today.

(...) I figure you could sell the horse and the wall section for more than $1 total. And of course if you wan tand snag this set on sales (or even clearances) you'll be even better off. (...) I'll go with that, although I generally price 'current' (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

Dan Siskind has a number of castle dudes that he has accumulated, he may or may not be willing to sell some off. I have a picture of ranks and ranks of them, which, someday, if I ever find my driver disk for the scanner, or get the energy to track (...) (24 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)
