Good point.  We definitely *should* muddy this discussion up with some
real facts. ;)

I *strongly* feel that (b) is the better option.  This is one of the
core assumptions of the current BFC spec proposal.

Does the strength of your opinion depend at all on just how difficult it is
to fix a part?

Yes and no.  Something that's easy to do is definitely less of a
'requirement' than something that's a lot of work.  But it's still a
requirement, placed on people who are voluntarily contributing their
work.

What if it's just a matter of downloading a program and
typing "bfcfix newpart.dat"?  What if it takes just a couple additional
minutes to make further corrections?  I guess I'd say if it takes more than
10-15 minutes then we shouldn't require it.

A short process should be no big deal, especially if it's a matter of
the program showing troublesome faces, and the user/author indicating
the correct winding.

I'm more worried about automatic correction of transform matrices on
linetype 1 commands.

(...) I can't speak for the other programs but if you allow a part to have CCW and CW faces in any OpenGL program, it's going to be slower (but as LeoCAD's library is pre-processed than it won't be a problem). If you have some parts BFC compliant (...) (25 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
