i can understand that some of the parts i am constructing are crap.

What a revelation!

several things:
1. i am lousy at coordinate geometry especially in a 3d plane like ldraw.

Then why do you push work you have done using 3d coordinate geometry when
you know you are lousy at it and know you spit out crap?

2. i have no lego and the only person i know who has lego does not have • most of
the parts e.g. the raised baseplate or the curved roadplates. (he has a • small
lego collection)
therefore the only reference i have on this part is the instruction scans • from
kl.net and the information provided by people on cad.dev.
am i to be excluded from making ldraw parts because i do not want to spend • MY
money to buy parts to model.

I do not make parts myself.  But the people who do make parts for Ldraw do
an EXCELLENT job and produce quality work.  This, I assume, comes from
hours in front of the computer with the part in hand measuring it and
eyeing it closely, so it can be best reproduced on the computer.  If you
don't have Lego to base your parts off of, how do you expect to author a
quality part?  You don't have something in front of you that is a good
source, you certainly won't have good output.  Garbage in, garbabe out.

i would not think of trying to model a difficult part without the real thing
e.g. the bow and arrow

The Lord is indeed merciful.

to all the people who are reporting problems with the walls not showing up • on
the baseplate, i had a look at this part and can not find any problems
with it.

Than SHUT UP.  STOP WHINING about the flaws you REFUSE to see in your own
material and STOP trying to submit the same garbage after you can't 'see'
anything wrong with it!  Don't expect us to accept your work on the basis
that YOU see nothing wrong with it.  Ldraw is devoted to quality work and
the people who have done successful parts have shown quality.

here is what i did. i copied the part to my models folder.
i typed ledit xxxx.dat
i viewed at zoom out x 1 from all angles and the walls were there for all of
them (some of them they did not show up at first but showed up after i hit e
(for erase). this is because of a bug in ledit, not my part.

I have NEVER had that problem with Ledit.  I know next to nothing about
parts authoring, but my use of Ledit tells me that the flaw is not there.
It has to be an error in your part file that was not written properly -
Ledit too thinks your part is crap and is having a heck of a time trying to
display it.

i will get the part from cad.dat and see if that has any problems.

Oh, could you cancel all the time-wasting posts you have made to .cad.dat
and .cad.dev whil you're at it?

also there are no missing studs in the roadplate parts on my hard disk. i • will
check the cad.dat versions of those as well.

But have you looked at the decorated curves??  To submit such a piece of
garbage is idiotic.

do you think i would even think to post a part that had walls missing?

Yes.  You have shown that you would post anything you did because you have
too much pride and are too arrogant to fix it.  You don't want your ego
hurt so you whine and complain when people find errors in your parts, and
then ask THEM to point out your mistakes.  All you're doing is crying for
us to shove the bottle back in your mouth so you don't have to grow up.  We
have had enough of this, have you?  Or are you so full of yourself that you
will continue shoving crap in our face and crying when we say it stinks
like crap?  I totally agree with Todd, 'check your attitude at the door.'

Ever so sincerely,

Keep Building!!

1.what is wrong with my road curves? i am now making the curves with a sufficient number of segments to make them look good. (24 and 32). 2.i did some checking and the roadplate parts i posted posted to cad.dat are most definatly not the versions i (...) (25 years ago, 10-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

one last thing. are you people trying to tell me that my parts can't be made up to scratch, no matter how much fixing i do? (25 years ago, 10-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
