I asked because I started to build up my .dat files this weekend on the exisiting sets I have. I figured that I should make electronic instructions of my sets in case I ever "lost/burn/destoryed" the original instructions. The naming issue of files (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

Well, here it is... the completed .mpd file for the 8880 Supercar. A rendered version can be found at (URL) hand-coded using nothing more than a text editor, my macro scanning and substitution program, l3lab, and a *lot* of algebra. I don't own the (...) As you can read in "The motive to L3P" it was Lutz Uhlmann's LGEO library (or rather its incompleteness) that inspired me to get started in the LDRAW business. It resulted in my L3 (Lego+Ldraw+Lars) project, which has spun off L3P and L3Lab. The (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray) !!

From a DOS command line type: Ldraw -ms parts\1.DAT This takes 1.dat, renders it as a bitmap, and drops 1.bmp in the "bitmaps" folder. I used a large batch file to convert all my dat to bmp so that I could create a catalog in Microsoft Word. Royce (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

I've managed to get a little more done thanks to Paul Easter - my VB app now interfaces to his trig.xls spreadsheet to calculate the Z co-ords for points given the X and Y and 3 vertices of the polygon on which the point sits. I could have put the (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

I've updated my page, and will be updating it multiple times today, I've decided to stick with the JPEG's for now, the GIF's turned out to be larger & slower loading. If a model has more then 10 steps it will get more then one page, with 10 steps (...) That's a pretty straightforward calculation if you know the dimensions of a Lego piece. However, actually measuring Lego parts doesn't give very even measurements in either inches or millimeters. Note that a plate is 8 LDU thick and that a 1-stud (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Lego units
 
After digging around for about a hour on Lego CAD websites, I'm completely stumped as to what a Leog "unit" translates into as far as real world units go (i.e. inches, millimeters, etc.) can anyone help me? Thanks -Orion (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

I just started playing with Ray-Tracing and have finsihed my first image using POV-Ray. It came out perfect but the picture is shown like an isometric drawing with a top view. Is there ay way to change the views in which POV-Ray will render the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

WHen I viewd it it looke dvery.... exploded and missing parts. I know planes. This may be a F-16, but both LDLIte and MLCad/LEdit say it's no. Hi Paul, Now the zip is OK. At the first glance it seems to be very useful. I guess I will have more seriuos comments when I will use it to solve a real calculation problem during a part creation. Expanding info available... Exsting L_Draw/MLCAD is reffered to as LCAD(97) (...) LCF Syntax : 6 <x y z> Indicates a single point at cordinates shown (Intended for use as a means of specifying rotation and postional centers. with additonal meta (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

Current De-facto LCAD(97?)standard (ie L-Draw/MLCAD)is lacking in some areas namely: No suppourt for curves or curved surfaces natively. No Text postioning. No Texture Mapping ( Although Leocad does suppourt it and imports LCAD .DAT) Rather than (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

(...) I just tried a fresh install on Mandrake 7.1. I'm fairly certain that you need MesaDemos because that includes GLUT which is required by ldglite. So I would leave that in the procedure. I had one problem installing on Mandrake. The "make (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)
