[Note - I haven't read the other followups - I'm posting unbiased.]
This is just not true. I think there are tons of people who care about
LUGNET, but just feel they are not in a position to help out. I run a small
server on this computer in my living room, but don't have the resources
(or the admin skills) to run something like LUGNET. Nor do I have the time -
the Lego project I'm involved in right now has a hard deadline for
completion, and it is consuming a lot of my spare time.
I agree with an earlier poster - to me, the main value of LUGNET is the
NNTP access to the newsgroups. I only use the web interface when someone
posts a URL to an article. But then, I know I'm a dinosaur. :-)
I also agree with being unhappy about the fragmentation of the Lego online
community. I'm supposed to be a castle fan, but don't have the time to get
used to the castle-specific sites (and dislike having to use web access - my
system, and my browser, are very old). I want all of my Lego news and
information to come from one quick session. As such, I haven't seen many
pictures of new castle MOCs for a while. I do see lots of other pictures
(like the NMRA show pics), however.

| (...) Well, I don't like the implication that Lugnet wasn't calm and peaceful BECAUSE of the Admins. As if we wanted everyone to call us names and be mean to us. But honestly, things get quiet because people stop caring. I mean, Suz has announced (...) (20 years ago, 14-Jul-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
