You are correct on the part being used as a CV joint. It's used in the 8880 Supercar behind the hubs, used as the 2nd U-joint is standard independant wheel suspension. I came across a small 1991 basic 3+ set today numbered 1698 which is neither in Pause or on Huw's site. It has english and french writing on the box and looks like a Canada-specific set. 24 pcs, all basic bricks except for eye and smile bricks and a (...) (...) The general answer is (I think) that sets have a ~2 year life cycle. A particular chain (WalMart, K-Mart, etc) may discontinue a set before or after TLC does. I have never seen a 3225 for sale in the US or Canada at a store that wasn't directly operated by TLC. That may change but it seems to be the case now. In europe there are stores that sell it though. I am using a HD with expansion board. Periodically when I run the motors at anything less than 100 they spin with very little power and both the red and green lights on the board light up.
