How to tell if a set's been discontinued

Hi! In the Lugnet set information pages (either through the set search or the
set browser), how can you tell if a set's been discontinued or not? Are prices
listed for all sets still produced/sold? And can all such sets be ordered
through Shop@Home or something similar?

(...) The general answer is (I think) that sets have a ~2 year life cycle. A particular chain (WalMart, K-Mart, etc) may discontinue a set before or after TLC does. Some sets seem to hang around forever, some seem to vanish. Target just blew out the (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)

To check if a set is still available, call Lego Customer Affairs and ask them the set numbers. They sell all the sets that stores get too(unless the sets were hidden in the warehouse somewhere:). The number is 1-800-453-4677 in America. -- Legoer, (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)
