The evening before the Cleveland leg of the Lego Raod Show, I build a small racecar to run on the track. I thought that it would be something else than trains, and it could be fast. The inaugural show of the Central Ohio Lego Train Club / Lego Builders Group (Coltc) took place during the Lego Road Show, in Cleveland. I was working on a train station with handicap accessible ramps when I realized that I didn't have any handicapped minifigs. I put together this minifig scale wheelchair to test the ramps. Most of them were older collectable trains so the prices were a bit high for the standard show visitor, but it was nice to be able to point people in his direction (...) This past weekend NCLTC had our layout on display at the Great American Train Show (GATS) in Raleigh, North Carolina. (...) In fixing my wheelsets, I've observed that the gray wheelsets are made of a softer (more butter-like) plastic. IMHO, the problem lies in this theory: * The axles are made of metal. * Metal is harder than plastic. * When putting metal in direct contact with plastic, the plastic will wear. * Check the spot where the point of the metal axle meets the plastic (...) (21 years ago, 4-Aug-03, to lugnet.trains)

That's one of the most intriguing designs I've seen lately. As soon as I get my Hailfire droid wheels, I'm going to make a coal dump for my train yard. It would also be good for a train turntable. I've gotten a copy of Mark's first presentation (he's still working on the advanced topics one) and it's just superb.
