And Bush?  Well, there isn't much doubt that he couldn't even be bothered to
fulfill his obligations while dodging the war Kerry was fighting in, regardless
of the authenticity of the message in question.

I like what the officer's secretary said (paraphrasing)... "those memos are
obviously fake, because I didn't type them, and men just didn't do secretaries
work back then... but the ideas they express are obviously true"

I should have read the paper this morning - the secretray thing was on the fold
and I tossed the paper in the car without reading it.  Interesting.  She doesn't
confirm the memos as real, but confirms Bush's commanding officer's opinions
contained in them.

But again, does this matter? Does it matter what Kerry did back then either?

Ask the ghosts of those who were drafted and died in Viet Nam.  I'd sure want
the guy who actually fought than the slacker who pulled strings to get out,
didn't even fulfill his duty, and wants everyone to ignore that for the sake of
politics and ideology.

Maybe a little, but what really matters is what Bush has done to the country and
the world, and is likely to do going forward, and what really matters is what
Kerry would be likely to do going forward.

Maybe if the voters had considered Bush's history past history more closely they
might not have to be considering his record in office.  :-)
