Greg,

Being the curious one, i went to check this out.  I did NOT find the apc you
have listed among the choices for this months model in the Builders Gallery.

As soon as I posted here, I immediately e-mailed the Lego Web Club, so they may
have done something about it. I haven't checked the site today, so I am going
to look myself, but I KNOW that I saw Greg Williams's vehicle there last night.

I did, however, see "large tracked vehicle", from this site:
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Runway/1604/bigtread.html

This is listed in first place, and was submitted by an 11 year old from
Canada.  This is obviously not the case.

This model can alse be seen on the Expert Builder site at
http://www.execulink.com/~apotome/archives/m0010.htm

It's making me wonder about the validity of the contests on the Lego site.
(Admittedly, I've wonder about ALL online Lego contests, as there really
isn't a way to determine if the person actually made the model.)

Hello,
While going through some of the current official Lego design contest • entries
held on their site, I came across a startling discovery: The model in • first
place has been on the web for as long as I can remember, and it also • belongs to
Mr. Greg Williams. However, it says on lego.com that it was made by some • 10
year old kid. I invite you all to go to this link,
http://www.mindspring.com/~gregw/images/apc-left.jpg , and tell me that • the
model in first place on www.lego.com is not the same thing. If any Lego
employee or site maintainer or something is reading this, I ask you to • please
regard this message. Either remove the model from your contest all • together, or
give proper credit to its rightful creator.

It would seem that I was in the wrong place :) I was looking in the regular gallery, not the THEME gallery. But it's pretty bad when I still managed to find the same situation, although with a different model! Greg Majewski <citrusx__@yahoo.com> (...) (25 years ago, 2-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
