Ender’s Game?!?!? Ooh, ooh! *drool* Of course, they’ve been “going to do”
something with Pern for years now, and it keeps falling to the wayside.
Besides, the problem they’d have with doing the Ender series is that they
wouldn’t need to get one phenomenal child actor, but rather at least a dozen
phenomenal child actors. The vast majority of main characters are
hyper-intelligent kids. If it was about nine years ago, Haley Joel Osmont might
have been perfect for Ender, but he’s in high school now.
The other problem they’d have is that if they want to do sequels, they’ll
probably want to do them in order of publication, but the Battle School actors
will end up outgrowing their roles for the Bean trilogy if they wait until
they’ve finished the Ender story, and the likelihood that they’ll decide to run
with Bean’s story first is pretty slim.
