This could even progress into a feature model of the
week/month if people would like.  I'm sure its possible
and it could get sites more publicity.  Is anyone
interested in this?

This would be very nice, but why not feature it as a separate feature? (er,
well, you know what I mean).

Well, who wants to do the work?

I wouldn't mind helping with the infrastructure to limit the
amount of work that actually has to be done.

- Adding new models to the collection
- Showing random models from the collection
- "Voting" on the models
- Promoting a model to "Model of the Week/Month"

Should we go the voting route and let the visitors choose the model of the
week/month from the pile?  Or should we do that ourselves and rotate them
some?  And what should it be, week or month?  Week would be more variety,
but month would be less work :)  Week would also generate more repeat
traffic.  And once a model is selected, should only that model be displayed
on the main page with a 'model of the week/month' caption below it?  Should
we accept renderings of TLG models as well like Kevin Bane's Explorien
Starship?

This rendering is truly impressive and I would like to include it
somewhere.  He has offered it for use on the site.

(...) Yes. (...) Good plan. (...) Right. IMO a good rendering is a good rendering (Ldraw, ldlite, pov..), whether or not it contains a TLG model or an MOC. We would like to see MOC's, but still, some TLG models are very nicely done. Like the (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

(...) What's wrong with the model already being used? And why a POV-Ray? This isn't pov-ray.org, it's ldraw.org. To be completely pure, it should be an image generated by LDraw. But an LDLite-sourced image would be very nice, as well. Also, IMO, an (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
