Nice regular expression !

data before the DAT files, and by insisting on a FILE
meta-command for each DAT file that is easily handled.

I think this is NOT a good excuse for that, because it either is an MPD
file or it's NOT, No garbage at the beginning should be allowed.

The MPD format has been designed for easy handling through
NNTP and SMTP, which means that I have to accept standard
mail and news headers before the actual content.

There is NO problem with that, because, every mail/news reader supports
the [uuencode] format and most support the [MIME] format.

Maybe you just want to convert directly from a mail dump ?
But that can easilly be done by copy/paste, except for batch processing.

but you also run into problems, when something is added to the mail after
the MPD file dump.
Maybe this could be re-thinked also !

I don't intent to change the MPD format.

I knew that changing things is always difficult, there is always a lot of
inercia. I'm like that too, but if it's for the better, than I'll do it.

But No problem, this is NOT final, if I or others can change the way you
think about it.

No pune intended, but
"Are you the MPD format owner ?"
or is this a definition discussed and defined by the Ldraw community ?

As I said no pune intended.

Also because if you want to put something at the begining of the MPD, you
can by using the LDRAW comment command:

0 some comment/stuff you want to insert

Try to change the SMTP and NNTP RFC's first.

I got the ideia, above, don't need to say that again !

See ya.
