Same for you Lenny, your post seemed to be a deliberate attempt to put down Eric.

You didn’t read that carefully, Mladen.

As with all criticism, I mentioned both good points and bad.

Examples of good comments: “The over-all form is nice.” “I really like the head.”

Everything else I said was not a deliberate attempt to put anyone down. It was my honest criticism of Eric’s mech.

I think both of you should have e-mailed Eric about this, or simply ignored the post.

So, you’re saying that unless I’m willing to praise Eric completely - and if I have any criticism that might be taken as negative that I should email him privately? Are you really arguing for such a limitation of free speech?

Listen, if you don’t like Eric’s work,

I do like it. I’m giving my personal feelings about where I think his work should go. I give my opinions because this is a public forum, and when Eric posts about new work, he is implicitly asking for people’s reactions. Elsewhere in thread he even laments that he doesn’t get more comments.

If Eric wants to disregard my comments, then fine. But you should not question my motives unless something I said is blatantly offensive or untrue.

that’s fine, but do recognize that he has done, I would say, more to further mecha building than any other individual, not just by creating incredibly complex, gravity-defying, and inspiring robotic creations, but also by curating the build.mecha forum, welcoming new mecha builders, replying to a heck of a lot of posts, participating in events, overseeing online mecha resources, and generally being THE face of the LEGO mecha building community. I mean, he’s like our representive, always furthering our cause: LEGO mecha!

Indeed. I have never and would never question those accomplishments. I resent the implication that I am trying to smeer dirt on his name or his accomplishments. I am not.

On top of this, he is also one of the friendliest and nicest people you could meet online, and, I am told, in person.

I’ve actually met with Eric in person a few times. And until some rather disturbing situations involving his relationship to SciBrick, I counted him as one of my friends. I am very upset that our dialogue dissolved to the point that a public showdown was necessary.

I have no desire to publically draw out a fight. If I wanted to do that, I would have done it in private.

-Lenny

ENOUGH ALREADY! Let it go. This takes away from other people's efforts and creations. STOP. Thank you very much. Lenny did you have to frelling mention SciBrick? C'mon. Also, If you are man enough to let this other carp go, I still want to be (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) I agree with Todd. Adrian, nobody forced you to reply to Eric's post. I mean, you're not even a frequent build.mecha poster, so I don't understand why you felt compelled to reply to his particular post. It just came out of the blue. Same for (...)
