Ya know Eric, this is a really cool bot, but for you it's the same old
same old. Different fingers, different eyes, different color, but still
the same nonetheless.  You've perfected the Sophie-Style bot, why not try
something new?

I tend to agree with Adrian.  This is old hat for you by now.

I can't disagree more, I can see the new.

It's kinda funny, when I saw Eric's post initially, I had sort of the same
reaction as Adrian. I saw the picture of another Sophie-Mech, and didn't
bother clicking further.

Geee thanks, way to blow off someones' efforts. If that is your attitude, I
rather you never click on any of my MOC posts.

I happened to catch Adrian's post as it went by, and since have thought about
it a bit more. I can't really fault Eric for sticking to the mech's he
builds. I mean, they're cool! But for me, it's more like
seen-one-seen-em-all. They're just not my thing. And that's fine-- I
similarly ignore various train models for the same reasons, because they're
just not interesting to me beyond a certain point. The changes in minute
details don't jump at me, and it often makes for a MOC I simply pass by
because I've seen bunches like it.

Its too bad for you. You are missing so many things here it is not funny.
Sometimes it is the small things in life that carry the most surprise.
Its a shame you take so many people for granted.

I hate to say it, but I found the same to be true of Bob Carney's castles.
They're totally awesome models, but after looking at a dozen or so, they were
lots more of the same as far as I was concerned. But hey, it's his niche. And
Eric's niche seems to be the Sophie-Mech. All similar in style, but each
equally cool.

Thanks, was that a stretch for you?

If building one style of model makes him happy, hey, I'm all for it. I just
probably won't look at future Sophie-Mech's, rather like I haven't for ... a
while I guess. And if Eric's doing this in part for the attention he gets,
maybe lots of people not looking will inspire him to go on to something
different. But apparently he's still got a good sized following of fans, so
hey, more power to you, Eric!

Probably won't look at future Sophie-Mech's?
Your loss.
Only an idiot would continue to build and not evolve.
I struggle each time I build to make my Mecha differnt from eachother.
Each one is something the last one is not, or could not be.
Don't mistake style for a lack of originality.

Attention I get? I only get a small handfull of regulars that reply to my posts.
People whom I have come to enjoy. The majority of people just look and offer no
feedback. Issues like this chase them away. It really sucks. The view counts on
Brickshelf tell a whole different story.

Maybe one of these days I'll explain to you why I do what I do. Maybe gthen
you'll be more open minded. Or you'll just have to wait for my Documentry. It is
in progress.

Btw, You sir are so darned opinionated. I both respect that and find it annoying
as heck. Respect it, because you have an interesting head on your shoulders.
Annoying because, opinions are like ********'s everyone has one.

(...) Really? I mean, I'm not trying to say your MOC's are somehow any less valuable, but I personally have seen enough of them such that they don't really interest me anymore. It'd be a shame if you genuinely want me NOT to check out your MOC's. (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)
