I tend to agree with Adrian. This is old hat for you by now.

I can’t disagree more, I can see the new.

It’s kinda funny, when I saw Eric’s post initially, I had sort of the same reaction as Adrian. I saw the picture of another Sophie-Mech, and didn’t bother clicking further.

I happened to catch Adrian’s post as it went by, and since have thought about it a bit more. I can’t really fault Eric for sticking to the mech’s he builds. I mean, they’re cool! But for me, it’s more like seen-one-seen-em-all. They’re just not my thing. And that’s fine-- I similarly ignore various train models for the same reasons, because they’re just not interesting to me beyond a certain point. The changes in minute details don’t jump at me, and it often makes for a MOC I simply pass by because I’ve seen bunches like it.

I hate to say it, but I found the same to be true of Bob Carney’s castles. They’re totally awesome models, but after looking at a dozen or so, they were lots more of the same as far as I was concerned. But hey, it’s his niche. And Eric’s niche seems to be the Sophie-Mech. All similar in style, but each equally cool.

If building one style of model makes him happy, hey, I’m all for it. I just probably won’t look at future Sophie-Mech’s, rather like I haven’t for ... a while I guess. And if Eric’s doing this in part for the attention he gets, maybe lots of people not looking will inspire him to go on to something different. But apparently he’s still got a good sized following of fans, so hey, more power to you, Eric!
