Probably the post source for inspiration is your library. If you like making buildings, get out a book on Frank Lloyd Wright (or your favorite architectural style) preferably with floorplans/blueprints. If you like vehicles, get out a book on cars (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

I used some basic parts (relays, resistor, wire, lego bricks & connectors) give the RCX basic switching ability. An IN is switched between two OUTS. The input can be connected to either an RCX input or output, depending on if you want to switch (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Let me tell you how it works with us younger modelers... whenever I but a Lego set, I ALWAYS build the first (main) model in the instructions, even if it's some small useless set. I have built two prototypes of an output demux. I take the three outputs as BCD, run each through a diode bridge, filter cap, and current limiting resistor to tickle the base of an NPN transistor. Out of curiosity, am I one of the few who buy the sets for the sets. I don't typically build to many MOCs, and if I do it is from an old carrying case full of misc. pieces. Hi! I thought I'd share my experience with the newest of the Star Wars sets. I had a hard time finding one of these in San Jose, CA.
