The SW answer: Astromech droids are used for more than just co-piloting
starfighters. They are also programmed to assist with computers, repairs,
and other
mundane tasks that humans may not want to do (or who demand too much pay for).
The Lego Answer: It's another figure for you to play with.

Heh. Go ask this question at a sci-fi convention. <off topic> BTW, go see
Galaxy Quest. It's good for a chuckle or two. It's especially funny if you
ever visit a sci-
fi con and know what the fans are like. I was part of the staff at a recent
one in Tacoma, WA. I sat next to Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Kenny Baker
(R2-D2).
You wouldn't believe some of the nuts who showed up. One guy had a stuffed
doll of the Madman comic character, and he photographed Kenny and Jeremy each
holding it. He called it "frank." "Hi can I get a picture of you with
Frank?" Weird. Anyhoo, Jeremy and Kenny are used to it, and they gracefully
took it in
stride. </off-topic>

Well, at least sort of. The ship is sizeable, the parts are good, the (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.reviews)
