Pedant alert... One could make the argument that 2585 is mis-categorized. It's a self propelled vehicle, not a car. Cars are characterised by not having motive power. Here's my net net on this discussion. The 2148/3442 (same design, different colors) design is flawed. A 2x2 turntable plate does not provide enough degrees of freedom. I agree with John concerning the current state that most Lego enthusiasts share, is the lack of bulk bricks from TLG, and the necessity of buying certain sets. I have discovered a very clever way of removing the printing from small Lego elements - forget brake fluid, various astringents, etc. and try this: simply put the element in your pocket every day for several months! :) .....well, it works for (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

I just put a Win32/i386 port of netpbm on my ftp site (ftp://ftp.phred.org...bm-e.zip). Very little documentation, but it should be easier then uploading and downloading files from a unix account. For me the most notable reason why our little market isn't perfect is that IMO we are in a constant state of short supply on most elements (because of TLG's unwillingness to offer bulk), not to mention that most sets are not available through Lego (...) I dislike how TLG promotes violence by including these megaphone pieces in so many of today's sets. The verbal abuse that minifigs volley at each other through these pieces has a profound and disturbing effect on the young ears that must listen. (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Have you used the turntable? I did a little more playin last nite with the Simtek mem chips. Whether or not the Mem chips will save memory depends on a few things. all the tlg guns have been hiustorical guns (pirates,adventurers,western). tlg has never released and element that looks remotly like a real modern gun and that includes the sw blasters which are obvosly too much like modern guns for tlgs liking. (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.starwars)

I've put 5 new models up on this page, and updated the TIE Prototype (Vader's fighter) after Jeremy pointed out a design error (Thanks!). I found the Star Wars sets at K-Mart in Cary. I picked up all five. After I got one of each, only one X-Wing left, several Snow Speeders, and tons of Landspeeders and Speeder Bikes. Alex: Thank you for your suggestion. I was able to find a Windows95 site which described a way to utilize the PGM program. There are 1x14 Technic bricks, the part number is a five digit number (32018), which indicates to me that it is a relatively new part. I have a few of these, but not many.
