I've been noticing lately that some of the more interesting Technic parts
appearing on the ThrowBots are starting to show up in other Lego technic
models.  The one I see appearing the most often is the hi-tech looking beam that
is seen in white and blue at
http://www.legomindstorms.com/press/download/ddk5.html.  It looks like the same
piece in the Throwbot Turbo http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=8502-1 for
example.  They are green on the Throw Bot here.

Right you are, and the following link shows a beam similar to the new race
car set (which looks kinda lame)

http://www.legomindstorms.com/press/download/ddk1.html

Some of the new elements are VERY specialized indeed, but I bet it's not long
before some of us come up with interesting uses for them. It almost seems like
there is a critical mass of "standard" Technic parts and the only new parts
really have to be specialized like this. Comments?

All of this brings me to the following point. TLG has got some REALLY good imaging
going. These are big JPGs that are very clear and only about 45-55K in size.

These images seem to have an ideal size/bytesize/detail balance - I think I'll
try to figure out their details and modify my own site for the same balance.

There's another Throw Bot piece that I've seen showing up on the newer Technic
models.  The first one that I noticed it on was that new green crane truck.  I don't
have a catalog handy so I'm not certain about the model number.  It's a connector
style piece that has 2 holed opening and a technic axle, all combined essentially into
a three shaped triangle.  (Boy is that an terrible description statement).  You can
clearly see the piece right up front.

Wait, I just found it on Pause
http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=8446-1

You can see a green one right in the passenger side front corner and two gray or
silver ones above the seats.  There's also what appears to be 2 Throw Bot "head"
pieces in silver-gray being used on the clamping mechanism itself.

It's funny but I started to notice these Throw Bot parts in the pictures of coming
Technic models only after having bought a couple Throw Bots just to see what kind of
pieces were in there.  So far, I've decided that at least 3 of the pieces that appear
in many of the Throw Bots have apparent value in other models as well, and some are
not limited to cosmetics.

I also noticed that at least one of the Throw Bots I purchased had a 5 length axle
too.  The Throw Bots are cheap and have some intriguing parts that I've been pushing
myself to find another use for.  I'm considering if those ball ended pieces could be
used in a suspension some way.
