We finally have a place to set up the train lay out and meet. So we will be setting regular meetings are CARLUG and Midsouth LTC. When The 2nd Sat - 9am till Noon & the 3rd Tuesday from 7PM till 10PM That means 9/15 &/or 9/18 will be the Sept dates. (...) Here is my newest locomotive that premiered at our last show. It's a loosely-modeled GP7 using a striping method that I've never seen anyone try before. Some cost estimates (a bit of unfortunate reality)... $10 is barely break even. By the time you print a label, sleeve it, stick it in an a CD mailer, and mail it, your at ~$5. Plus the effort, the most expensive part! Even at minimum wage we'll be (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

I just got the 10014 cabose and was thinking of customizing it. I was going to make it 6 studs longer (from 16 to 22). How long can I make a car without having to go to pivoiting bogies? I may do this anyways. How short can a car be and still look (...) (23 years ago, 5-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

It isn't that much trouble transfering the gallery site to a CD. And with blank CD's costing $0.20ea, $10 each (including shipping w/in US) might be a reasonable thing. The track is strips of metal set vertcally in concrete (no ties, nowhere near the shape of real rail) and doesn't have working turnouts (points). The (...) John Neal showed a really nice length of 4.5 track where he used 1x8 ties with 1 stud between them instead of 2x8 with 2 studs between them. It changed the entire look of the track! SteveB (23 years ago, 30-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

Dear all, Frank Deuter - a German Co-AFOL - has built this cathedral and asked me to publish a first picture of it. Is the blue 12v track compatible with the gray 12v track? What about the points (switches)? Also, as far as track geometry is concerned, is 12v track compatible with 9v track? I know the electrics are different. (23 years ago, 30-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

They're still pretty much hit and miss for me, I'll get all the thumbnails and then only a few of the big pictures. (...) of track has tabs that stick out on the end to connect to the next piece of track which makes it slightly longer (2 studs, IIRC. That would make it ~5.6"). What I saw looks great but there are a lot of broken images. The thumb nails loaded extremely slow as well. I was listening to internet radio (and it didin't cut out) while they were loading so I don't think it is my DSL. (7:30 AM CST) That (...) (23 years ago, 29-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)
