I would agree, it's much more in-line with the way I think and build... but
that's at least partially due to my history with LEGO. My 6-year-old son uses
both styles, and even in his "regular" (non-technic) builds incorperates the pin
and SNOT techniques far more than I would have.

To me? Yes... but it is also very strong, can be fairly rigid. And in some
cases I can make light-weight, space-saving subassemblies using pin-&-liftarm
type constructions that would be difficult or impossible with traditional stud
design.
Do I prefer the old style. Yes. But I really like the new style as well
(note, I do mostly robotics).

Agreed, and the only problem that my 6-year-old son has

I've not got the backhoe - but I have watched my 6-year-old son build the
Mars Rover kit by himself (I did the last 15% perhaps due to time constraints,
but her actually did all the hard parts, without so much as a question).

I've come close with some RCX projects, due to strength/size/weigh issues.
Mounting the motors and light sensor are limits (LEGO, *thank you* for that
little axle hole in the touch sensor!).

| (...) I'm curious about your question. When you ask about Technic bricks being replaced by the studless beams, do you mean that you don't think there are any studded bricks out there at all? If so, perhaps you should try some of the Designer sets or (...) (21 years ago, 16-Jan-04, to lugnet.technic)
