Bicentennial Man was (not faithfully) adapted from Asimov’s short story of the same name, as well as his novel The Positronic Man.

Supposedly there are talks of doing something with Asimov’s Foundation series, and I Robot is currently filming (but only looks to be loosely following any of Asimov’s stories)

Rendezvous with Rama is in a production black hole currently.

Johnny Mnemonic was based on a short story by William Gibson. It bombed at the theatre, because I think most people just didn’t get it. Yeah, it’s corny, but one of my guilty pleasures. I think its corniness is one of the things I like about it. :D

What about those of us who did get it (and paid to see it in the theater!) but still didn't like it? 8^) It was cool to see Henry Rollins as a streetdoc, though. And the monofilament whip was nifty... (...) (21 years ago, 5-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.space, lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) If they bugger this up, someone will have to die. (...) Too bad, I could see it being really cool. Hopefully it'll get moving again. What I want to see is a film version of Cherryh's Cyteen, or maybe Tripoint. 40K In Gehenna would be cool, (...) (21 years ago, 5-Mar-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.space, lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) I read a script once of a proposed movie based upon Isaac Asimov's short stories that never got to filming. The explanation was that Asimov's stories are very adult, concerning deeper issues and themes than most Hollywood sci-fi. (...)
